SERVICE DESIGN PROJECT FOR UNITEC & GENERATOR

This successful project involved leading a group of 10 final year Unitec students through a service design project aimed at improving Generator, a shared workspace based in Britomart.

The objective of this project was to not only help students understand more about service design, and the value of taking a trans-discipline, holistic perspective in their work, but also what it what like to work on a real client brief, with students from very different disciplines, under time and budget constraints akin to those in the real world.

As part of this project we organised events where industry experts gave their perspectives on shared workspaces from the viewpoint of their particular discipline.

The intention of these events was both to inform students, as well as showcase this project to industry as an example of work-based learning, a key strategy for Unitec. The final deliverable was a customer experience map showing key observations, insights and recommendations by discipline.
