The intention of the workshops is to share the HVN consumer insights work being done in China with F&B businesses in NZ in a way that helps them understand, apply, and use the insights. Other agencies like NZTE have supported the workshops with staff that have deep in-market knowledge and experience, like Charlotte Read.

High Value Nutrition is one of New Zealand's National Science Challenges. HVN's mission is to use research excellence to enable the transformation of New Zealand’s food and beverage industry into an exporter of high-value, scientifically-proven foods for health. Research is being conducted across four broad health themes: Infant Health, Gut Health, Metabolic Health, and Immune Health.

The intention of this programme of work is to help the HVN team make the consumer insights work they are doing in China across each of the four health areas useful, valuable, and actionable to small and medium sized Food & Beverage businesses in New Zealand.

We have been running workshops throughout New Zealand, across each of the four health areas. Each workshop is attended by around 15 to 20 industry delegates, and supported by people from Plant & Food and NZTE.

The workshops are carefully structured to make sure participants get to work with the insights and data, think about how they might apply it for commercial gain in their own businesses, and also openly work through their questions and thoughts with the researchers that did the in-market consumer insights work in China directly: a fantastic opportunity to get a deeper, richer, more nuanced understanding of the Chinese consumer.

I’ve never been to a workshop like this before. It’s been fantastic! I love the attention to detail.
