It's not often that you get to do work that you feel has a profound impact; work that truly makes the world a better place. This series of workshops for children's librarians at Auckland Libraries was a wonderful example of just that type of work - work with real impact.

For this project we developed and ran a series of workshops to help children's librarians explore, understand and apply the principles of co-design to the products, services & experiences they develop.

The key objective for the sessions was to help children's librarians explore how we might improve the Dare to Explore Programme offered by Auckland Libraries, and the sessions focused on helping participants develop skills in empathy and interviewing techniques that they could then readily apply back at work in service of this objective.

The workshop sessions were captured in visual form by the wonderful team at the League of Live Illustrators.

Thank you! That was a wonderfully challenging and thought provoking session. Very valuable.

Thank you. That really made me think!

I was super pleased to see that Mark’s workshops provoked new thinking around community engagement, and inspired participants to think outside the box by learning new approaches and tools to collaboratively design with children and families, for more responsive library services.
